I wanted to try wordpress.com blogs because I liked the layout of that website better than blogspot. I am going to give it a try and see which one I like better. Follow me on wordpress http//:musicalmadison.wordpress.com

Anna's American Adventure.

On Thursday, November 1st, we went to Sea-Tac International Airport to say our last goodbyes to Anna before she flew back to Germany. Even though she stayed in the United States for two and half weeks, we grown a strong friendship. Saying goodbye to Anna was a bit harder than saying goodbye to Lea because I knew I was going to see Lea the following summer, but I am not sure if I will return to Germany again.

Anna Comes To America in Less Than 5 Days!

On Monday, October 15th, Anna Frey, my new exchange partner through the German American Partnership Program is coming to America! I decided to sign up for the exchange through my school again since last year I loved it so much. I am not one hundred percent sure if I will be going back to Germany again but I am excited to host again.

When I signed up for the exchange program again in June my original partner was Anna Schultz. I had the the chance to meet her during my stay in Germany and get to know her. She is friend's with Lea and their families know each other. One day I got the news that she was unable to do the exchange which broke my heart but I am glad I got to spend time with her this summer. We are still great friends and communicate through Facebook every now and then.

I am excited to host another German student for three weeks but I haven't talked to her much through Facebook since I found out she was my partner. I kind of wish that we could have communicated more and get to know more about each other before she came to live with me for three weeks. I am pretty nervous since I only little information about what she is like and what her interests are. I hope we have the same interest so she is not bored with my activities.

Even though we are hosting again I can't help but be reminded of when we got ready for Lea's arrival last October. I haven't talked to her much either but that is because I am so busy with school and band. I believe she is busy with her everyday life in Germany also since during my three week stay we were busy what seemed like everyday. Hopefully we start talking to each other again soon.

I am truly thankful for the opportunity to meet these three beautiful young ladies. They are some of the most important people of my life and will forever be in my heart. I am so glad I am involved in the German Partnership Program.

First Week Of Senior Year.

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012 was my first day as a senior at South Kitsap High School. Juniors and Seniors did not have to attend school until 11:25 because of the sophomore assembly introducing sophomores to South Kitsap. Then after the assembly the sophomores go to all six of their classes before the juniors and seniors come to start their first day at South Kitsap.

The classes I have for my first trimester are Women's Ensemble, Government, Honors British Literature & Composition, Chemistry, UW German 103, and Concert Band. I was suppose to be in Concert Choir but since Concert Band was the same period I got bumped down to Women's Ensemble. Since Women's Ensemble is a class that does not befit me I am most likely thinking about dropping the class and switching into another class until Vocal Jazz Ensemble second trimester. I plan to ask Mr. Allen on Monday if I could still be apart of Concert Choir but volunteer my own time into practicing the music.I hope I could still be apart of the choir that I technically should be a part of but not in the class due to scheduling issues.

Not much has happened the first three days of school. I already have homework from most of my classes but I plan to finish it all over the weekend. It has been a tiring three days of being back in high school. My sleeping habits are still on summer mode going to bed late at night and sleeping in through the morning. I do not think that my weekend sleeping habits will not befit me on Monday.

Life Back in United States.

I have been home from my three week exchange in Germany for a month and six days. Ever since I came home on July 21st from my experience I have been extremely fascinated about languages and cultures around the world. For awhile I have actually been thinking about going to college for language and business so I may have a career traveling the world experiencing different cultures. There have been a few more languages that I have been so fascinated with that I am considering learning them someday in my life time which are Russian, Italian, and Swedish.

After arriving home from my eleven hour flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Seattle, Washington my parents decided eat dinner at Red Robins and talk about my exchange experiences. After telling them about my adventure with Lea's family they kept talking about maybe someday they would like to meet Lea's family and see her again. For two weeks I was the only child home since Miranda and Dalton were in Illinois spending time with family and friends. I felt pretty lonely not having my brother and sister home so my step niece and nephew came over which we spent almost everyday at Long Lake the two weeks. Miranda and Dalton flew back to Washington on August fourth exactly two weeks after I flew into Sea-Tac International Airport but their flight we delayed due to severe storms in Chicago, Illinois.

The weekend after Miranda and Dalton flew back to Seattle my family plus my step niece Yazzy went on a two night camping trip in a tent by Mount St. Helens. It was a four hour drive from Port Orchard to the campground that we were staying at but the reason for the long ride was that there were many detours. We hiked over a waterfall, in a mile and half cave, near cliffs, and rocky wooden bridges in the air. I had a blast on the family trip even if it was a last minute planned trip I would someday like to experience that with my family again.

The following Monday, August 13th I had my first day of band camp ever. We spent Mondays through Fridays from eight in the morning to eight in the evening practicing everything for marching band. Some days felt like it was a never ending day then there were other days where fast moving. We also had to practice for a performance at the Clear Water Resort in Poulsbo, Washington which earned the band $5,000 for just playing five songs. Friday, August 24th we had a performance to our parents to show them what we learned for the two week followed by the band bbq.

Saturday, August 25th I went with my family to my neighbor's son's who I babysit, second birthday party. There were bounce houses which Dalton and I went in because we thought it would be fun to feel like kids again. It was well worth it because the whole day brought back so many happy childhood memories into my mind and we had some bonding time which is extremely rare for the both of us.

Since being home for Germany my life has became busy like it always has been. My senior year at South Kitsap High School starts on September 5th. Once school starts my normal always on the go with activities and school work starts up again. There is not one day that passes by that I think about my adventures, friends, and my host family back in Germany. I miss it everyday and I hope that one day I will return to start more adventures in the German life.

Seven Days Until Germany!

One week from today I will be at Sea-Tac International Airport on my way to Iceland for the German American Partnership Program. We will be staying in Iceland for two days and then on July 1st we will leave for Germany. While in Germany for three weeks we will be attending Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Tuttlingen, Germany and local tourist attractions.

I am so excited to explore the country of Germany and experience a whole new culture. The land of where my ancestors lived before moving to America. I never left the United States, so this will be a whole new experience. I am also nervous because while in Germany I have to speak German most of the time. Even though I just finished learning my second year of German, I am still terrified that I will make a fool out of myself.

In October of 2011 my exchange partner, Lea Bauer came to America to experience the American life. During her visit in America we went to Seattle, Olympic Game Farm, Forks, La Push, Homecoming Game, Homecoming Dance, and went Trick or Treating. Even though she was only in America for three weeks we became close friends.

It has been eight months since I have last seen Lea. I am so excited to see her again and get to meet her family in just a couple of days. I can't believe that I am finally going to Germany and experience a once in a life time experience.
